Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) AS1478.1-2000 Certification

Background

Kryfix Australia are proud to announce that our KIM Waterproofing Admixture is now AS1478.1-2000 certified. This Hydrophilic Admixture now complies with the requirements as per AS1478.1 2000, type SN admixture.

What does this certification mean you may ask ? This certification standard sets out the requirements for chemical admixtures to be added to concrete mixes incorporating portland & blended cements.

Furthermore, this certification now gives the guarantee that KIM does not have any damaging side effects on the hardened state of concrete and gives the construction industry an assurance in regards to its addition & performance within concrete mixes.

The certification testing for this product was completed through Boral via a NATA Accredited Laboratory.

About (KIM) Krystol Internal Membrane

Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) is a hydrophilic crystalline admixture used to create permanently waterproof concrete. KIM lowers the permeability of concrete and is used in place of surface-applied waterproofing membranes. By stopping the transmission of water through concrete, KIM adds durability and longevity to concrete by protecting it against chemical attacks and corrosion of reinforcing steel.

How it Works

KIM contains Krystol technology. When added to concrete, Krystol chemically reacts with water & un-hydrated cement particles to form insoluble needle-shaped crystals that fill capillary pores & micro cracks in the concrete & block the pathways for water/waterborne contaminants. Any moisture introduced over the lifespan of the concrete will initiate crystallization, ensuring permanent waterproofing protection.
